Chipboard Chipboard is generally available in Standard
Grade, which is normally about 650kg/m3 density, and Flooring Grade which is
about 720kg/ m3 density. Standard grade is widely used in furniture
manufacturing and general joinery, particularly where the boards will be
“hidden” under a veneer or laminate. Flooring grade is produced as a
square-edged panel but is also available with a tongued and grooved profile.
Flooring Grades are classed as either P4 (for interior use only) or P5 which can
be used where moisture resistance is required e.g. bathroom floors.
